Limpia, or Mayan Spiritual Cleansing, is a powerful ancestral ritual rooted in ancient Mesoamerican traditions. It is based on the understanding that human beings are composed of more than just the physical body and the mind—we also carry vital energy, or spiritual vibration.
According to Mesoamerican wisdom, physical and emotional health issues often have energetic causes. Throughout daily life, we are exposed to countless energy frequencies—from thoughts, moods, emotions, environments, and even energetic imprints or spiritual entities. Just as we accumulate physical toxins and dirt, we also store energetic residue in our subtle bodies.
A central element of this cleansing ritual is the use of an egg, a sacred symbol of life, transformation, and renewal. Mayan shamans and healers use the egg to absorb stagnant or heavy energy from your body and aura. The egg acts like an energetic vacuum, drawing out what is no longer serving you.
At the end of the session, the healer will perform an egg reading (lectura del huevo) by cracking the egg into a glass of water. The shapes and bubbles formed are interpreted to provide insights into your emotional, physical, and spiritual state, revealing blockages, unresolved emotions, or spiritual imbalances.
This practice is further enhanced by the use of sacred herbs and copal resin, which help purify your energy field and connect you with higher vibrational frequencies.
Healing TulumA Limpia is a powerful energetic cleansing ritual rooted in Mesoamerican traditional medicine, used to restore balance between the individual and their environment.
The purpose of a Limpia is to re-harmonize the body, mind, and spirit by removing or expelling the energetic elements that may be causing illness, emotional discomfort, or spiritual imbalance. These energies can come from external influences, negative thought patterns, emotional stress, or energetic blockages accumulated over time.
This spiritual cleansing is ideal for releasing:
